Don't let politics undermine energy's role in pensions, govt. finance

Taxpayers are likely to be bitterly disappointed by the so-called “Bipartisan Budget Act” wielding its way through Congress. In exchange for busting two-year-old budget caps by over $60 billion, the deal calls for spending reductions elsewhere which only partially offset this amount, and the bulk of them take effect nine long years from now. Also in the mix are fiscal gimmicks, along with “revenue raisers” such as fee hikes on travelers.
