BREAKING: Illinois Supreme Court votes 4-3 to keep redistricting off ballot

In a partisan 4-3 decision, Illinois Supreme Court justices voted Thursday to concur with a Cook County Circuit Court judge in tossing off the Nov. 8 general election ballot a citizen vote on an independent redistricting reform effort.

Majority Democratic justices sided with the lower court judge, saying that the reform group’s plan to involve another state officer violated the Illinois Constitution:
