In one week, lawmakers return to Springfield and the Illinois Senate will begin hearings on a bevy of bills that comprise an attempt at a so-called “grand bargain” to end the state budget stalemate. That compromise was negotiated by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton and Republican Senate Leader Christine Radogno.

There’s plenty there for anyone to hate or to love. Cullerton and Radogno put it all out there for all to see. And soon it will be picked apart, analyzed and numbers-crunched, as it should be, in public hearings. No one can say something was rammed…
