Automatic voter registration in Illinois gets a second try

Proponents of automatic voter registration in Illinois are trying again with a new bill they say will address security and other concerns that caused Gov. Bruce Rauner to veto a similar measure last year.

If successful, eligible voters who obtain or renew an Illinois drivers license could choose to be registered to vote beginning July 1, 2018.
