Only in Illinois: Rauner-Mendoza feud intensifies, voter registration bill moves ahead

This week in Illinois politics kicked off with new escalation in the bitter feud between Gov. Bruce Rauner and Comptroller Susana Mendoza, but it wasn’t all bad news out of Springfield.

While Mendoza and Rauner argued over who was at fault for a central Illinois drug treatment center’s likely closure due to the budget impasse, backers of automatic voter registration in Illinois introduced new legislation that could make it a reality by summer of 2018.
