House committee approves $15 minimum wage amendment

Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated the July increase to Cook County’s minimum wage. It will be $10, not $13. 

Illinois workers and business owners could see one of the nation’s highest minimum wage increases as part of legislation working its way through the General Assembly.

On Wednesday, the House Labor & Commerce Committee approved an amendment to House Bill 198 that would raise the state minimum wage from $8.25 to $15 an hour by 2022.
